Agency: Friends of the San Francisco Public Library is a non-profit organization dedicated to the creation, support and stewardship of a superior free library system. Our work enriches library resources and provides funding for neighborhood renovations, capital improvements, children and adult programming, and materials.

Position & Responsibilities

P/T (20 hours) position for non-profit bookstore. Duties include all tasks associated with running a successful bookstore including, but not limited to: customer service, cash handling, inventory control & maintenance, plus stocking tables & shelves. Duties also often include selling books at author signings located in SF Main Library, Branches & other off site venues. Employee must set up & organize tables for signings & sales, process monetary transactions efficiently, break down sales' site as per supervisor & organization guidelines. Personal transportation not provided. Employee may be called upon to perform other mission-related duties at the discretion of the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 3 years minimum retail experience.
  • Ability to function as a team player, outgoing personality, ability to work independently
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexible hours day & evening
